10 QUESTIONS: Get to Know Stephan Ghadaifchian of Citywide Banks


As a Senior Vice President of nonprofit and international lending, Stephan Ghadaifchian has spent 23 years of his 37-year banking career with Citywide Banks. He works from the bank’s original branch on Colfax Avenue in Aurora.

Stephan loves going to work every day and assisting internal and external bank customers with their commercial banking needs. He is very familiar with the Aurora market and has 30 years of experience with East Metro area businesses and communities. He is a passionate mental health advocate and has volunteered on the board of the Aurora Mental Health Center for several years. He is a graduate of Leadership Aurora, and has had volunteer roles with American Red Cross, Kiwanis Club of Aurora, his church, and numerous other charities. Stephan raised his family in the Mission Viejo subdivision of Aurora.

  1. What’s your favorite local restaurant?  
    • “Opa Grill in Parker, and Domo Restaurant in Denver – especially during the summer, sitting outside in the Japanese garden.”
  2. Where is your birthplace?
    • “The Armenian-Christian section of Tehran, Iran.”
  3. What’s your favorite Colorado ski resort?
    • “I love Steamboat Springs.”
  4. What do you like the most about living in Colorado?
    • “As a global traveler and resident of several cities around the world, you can’t beat Colorado’s climate and natural beauty – with its 300 days of sunshine and its four seasons!”
  5. What’s your favorite outdoor recreation activity?
    • “I have been an avid swimmer since I was three years old, and I really enjoy snorkeling. I’ve played soccer as a kid, and also practice and teach hatha yoga – I love to practice and teach yoga outdoors.”
  6. What’s your favorite vacation spot anywhere in the world?
    • “Actually there are many – Puget Sound, WA (Oregon Coast), Archipelago region off of Stockholm, Sweden, and the Greek Islands.”
  7. What’s your favorite movie?
    • “Breakfast at Tiffany’s – actually, all Audrey Hepburn’s movies.”
  8. What’s your favorite childhood memory?
    • “Family picnics in the mountains and working summer youth camps in the Caspian Sea region.”
  9. What’s your favorite dessert?
    • “My daughter is a fabulous pastry chef (graduated from Johnson and Wales University) and she has introduced me to the most amazing chocolate desserts, chocolate ganache cake. And I personally love apple crisp and Armenian walnut cake – which I have to make myself since there are no Armenian bakeries in Denver. My last name, Ghadaifchian, is a variation of the name of an Armenian/Mediterranean pastry, kataifi, which is very difficult to make.”
  10. How would you spend the Powerball jackpot?
    • “I would take care of my family and friends in need of funds. Also, donate to mental health centers and nonprofits that help prevent hunger and provide housing for the homeless.”
