Citywide Banks Gives $5,500 to Denver’s Asian Pacific Development Center

Citywide Banks presented Asian Pacific Development Center (APDC) a $5,500 donation today at the bank’s Colfax Branch in Aurora.  The nonprofit beat out six other Colorado charities to win the top donation in the recent Citywide Banks Charity Hand-Up Contest.  Employees at the Aurora branch nominated APDC for the contest.  Employees celebrated today by hosting a special lunch with APDC leadership, including Christine Wanifuchi, chief executive officer, Jane Lundwall, director of marketing & development, and Colleen Higashide, manager of business administration & services.

“We sincerely appreciate all that APDC does for our community,” expressed Steve Ebner, marketing director at Citywide Banks. “Its team of dedicated staff and volunteers is helping change lives for so many refugee and immigrant families every day. Citywide Banks is thrilled to award this donation to help APDC continue to help these families move forward as Coloradans.”

APDC received a $5,000 donation for rallying the most votes in the contest. It received an additional $500 donation for growing its Facebook following the most during the contest. The group plans to apply its $5,500 donation from Citywide Banks to help fund its adult education and youth programs, and also support a larger community garden initiative that serves behavioral health clients as therapy.

Get to Know Asian Pacific Development Center
Refugees coming to Colorado from Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, and other parts of Asia have become the state’s fastest growing ethnic minority group reaching close to 150,000. This group has unique cultural and language barriers that make it challenging to adapt to living in the United States. APDC helps these new metro Denver residents by providing specialized mental health and primary healthcare services, job readiness training, and victim assistance programs.
