Citywide Banks Gives $5,000 to Longmont Humane Society as Top Winner in Social Media Contest

Liz Smokowski, Kara Pappas, and Carrie Brackenridge of Longmont Humane Society accept $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks Boulder employees after winning the bank’s social media contest.

Citywide Banks awarded the Longmont Humane Society a $5,000 donation today at the bank’s Boulder offices.  The nonprofit beat out six other Colorado charities to win the top donation in the recent Citywide Banks Charity Hand-Up Contest.  Employees at the Boulder and Downtown Denver branches were responsible for nominating the Longmont Humane Society for the contest. Employees celebrated today at a special lunch with members of the animal shelter, including Liz Smokowski, executive director, Kara Pappas, director of development, and Carrie Brackenridge, communication & outreach manager.

“Longmont Humane Society is proud to be a great resource to our community and grateful for the support and partnership we have from the public and Citywide Banks,” commented Smokowski. “Together, we are saving lives.”

“Congrats to the Longmont Humane Society and our thanks for all they do for our animal friends,” stated Steve Ebner, marketing director at Citywide Banks. “Our local community is blessed with so many inspiring organizations making a difference. Our hope is that more people are now aware of Longmont Humane Society, its mission, and how to continue supporting it as we move forward.”

Longmont Humane Society is a nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of companion animals. Whether it’s sheltering lost or homeless animals, providing low-cost veterinary care, or offering behavior training, the shelter offers passionate care for the 4,000 animals that come through their facility every year.

The organization says the $5,000 donation will go toward its Now & Forever Campaign, which seeks to raise the $2.2 million debt remaining on the loan on its facility.
