Citywide Banks Boulder Gives $10,000 Donation to Help Boulder Flood Victims

On September 19th, Citywide Banks, a Colorado owned and family operated bank, presented a $10,000 donation to the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA), a Boulder nonprofit that is providing food, housing, and other assistance to Boulder county families and individuals impacted by this month’s flooding. The money will help EFAA’s team expand their reach to provide temporary housing and meals to hundreds of Boulder households displaced by the flood waters.

“Citywide Banks, on behalf of its Boulder area customers and employees, wanted to provide immediate support to the flood impacted Boulder County community.  EFAA was our choice because of their long standing tradition of effectiveness and efficiency in emergency support for families,” explained Blake Peterson, president of Citywide Banks Boulder. “Citywide is also working directly with our clients to help them through this experience.”

EFAA has been meeting our community’s basic needs since 1918 and has responded to one of the most significant natural disasters to strike Boulder County by coordinating with evacuation centers to house additional families in our unoccupied emergency and transitional shelter units as well as providing additional food to flood-impacted families.

EFAA executive director, Stuart Lord states, “In the first several days following the flood, members of our program staff were very busy focusing their attention on how to effectively provide the much needed additional services to our community members impacted by the flood by setting up remote locations and coordinating with other service providers. It was in the midst of this immediate aftermath that Citywide Banks Boulder president, Blake Peterson, arrived at our doorstep with a check for $10,000. We were all gratefully stunned and honored to be part of such a generous community.”

Prior experience with the Fourmile Fire indicates that EFAA is likely to receive an increased number of requests for help with rent and utility assistance, food and shelter over the next year. The generous contribution from Citywide Banks will assist families with immediate needs as well as the continuing assistance they will need in the months to come.
