A 2014 PEW Research Center report found that 84% of US households owned a computer. However, the study also found that computer ownership and Internet connectivity varied greatly by area. For example, in low-income Denver neighborhoods such as Edgewater, Globeville and South Watkins, only 47% of school-age child have access to computers at home. This puts those students at a big disadvantage for learning. Colorado nonprofit, OpenWorld Learning (OWL), was established to reverse this trend. Citywide Banks Honoring Community with November Charity Hand-Up Contest – Seven Colorado Nonprofits Nominated

Citywide Banks employees have nominated seven Colorado nonprofits to compete in the next Charity Hand-Up Contest from November 2-22, 2015. The community is invited to participate by voting for a charity nominee on Facebook and sharing their support of one or more of the nominees through social media. The charity that receives the most votes will receive a $5,000 cash donation from Citywide Banks. An additional $2,500 in donations will be split between the other nominees based on final vote standings. A bonus $500 donation will go to the charity that increases their Facebook followers the most. The public can also enter to win several prizes by participating. Citywide Banks Hosts 49th Annual Golf Classic and Contributes Over $6,700 for Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health

Citywide Banks hosted its annual golf tournament and dinner reception on Thursday, August 27th, at Inverness Golf Club. More than 100 of the bank’s clients and partners helped mark the 49th consecutive year for the event, one of Colorado’s longest running private golf tournaments. During this year’s event, the bank showcased the ongoing work being done through local nonprofit, Denver Health Foundation (DHF). The bank contributed $5,000 on behalf of the tournament’s golfers, and is continuing to match public donations to DHF through September 15, 2015. During the event, golfers kicked in $1,765 for mulligan tickets and direct donations to the nonprofit. Citywide Banks Helps Client Raise Over $30,000 on Coast to Coast Ride for Parkinson’s

Boulder cyclists, Henry Prescott III and George Lilley, completed their 3,500-mile trek through 13 states on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. It took the pair 48 days to bike from Seattle, through Minneapolis and Cleveland, to reach their final destination of Portland, Connecticut. The purpose was to raise awareness and critical funds for the fight against Parkinson’s Disease. The campaign, dubbed “Cycle Sea to Sea for PD,” has already raised $30,500, and continues to accept donations. The money will go to the Davis Phinney Foundation, Parkinson Association of the Rockies, GZ Sobol’s Parkinson’s Network, YMCA of Boulder Valley, and Middlesex YMCA. […]
